Our Daily Routine

A child's development, and the development of their senses, rests on rhythm and repetition. Our conscious daily, weekly, monthly and yearly routine provides just that.

  1. 6.30 am

    Opening time

For the first drop-off window, we open the doors of Kinderwelt for our early-rising little (and big) ones already between 6.30 and 7.45 am.

With a shared morning circle at 7.45 am we ease gently into the day and go for breakfast together. During this time, we like to be fully present and undisturbed, so we thank you for your understanding that we don't open the doors between 7.45 and 8.30 am.

  2. 8.00 am

    Breakfast

At Kinderwelt, every day starts with a lovingly prepared, healthy breakfast – not something you'll find everywhere in Berlin's kita landscape. It matters to us to offer children a varied, balanced and wholesome diet right from the morning, giving them energy for the day ahead. Every morning we carefully prepare breakfast ourselves, with a lot of love:

    • MondayA colourful muesli mix with fresh fruit salad, milk and yoghurt.
    • TuesdayCrispy toasted spelt or wholegrain bread.
    • WednesdayA healthy combination of fruit, yoghurt and muesli.
    • ThursdayFresh bread with cheese, cold cuts and crunchy vegetables.
    • FridayDelicious multigrain rolls for a healthy start to the weekend.

Of course we always offer vegetarian alternatives too, and respond individually to any dietary needs, so that every child feels at home with us. A good start to the day is, for us, the foundation for playful learning and discovering together!

  3. 8.30 am

    Second drop-off window

From 8.30 to 9.00 am we open the doors once more for latecomers, before splitting up again into the individual groups.

  4. 9.00 am

    Group time with specific activities

At Kinderwelt we place great value on the individual support of every child. That's why, after breakfast, we move into group-specific time with pedagogical activities tailored to the children's needs and interests.

  5. 10.00 am

    Fruit snack

To bridge the time until lunch – especially for our youngest and earliest risers – we offer a fruit and vegetable snack at 10 am.

  6. 11.00 am

    Lunch

Timing varies slightly by age group.

Lunch at Kinderwelt is an important part of our daily routine and is freshly prepared and balanced every day by our caterer. When choosing meals, we not only aim for a varied, child-friendly diet, but also want to convey the joy of eating together. Our meals are diverse, seasonal and designed to suit children's tastes, while also letting them discover new foods and dishes.

We place particular importance on individual dietary needs and preferences. Whether vegetarian, vegan or specific intolerances – every child is catered for. We work closely with parents to ensure that every child receives a meal that suits both their needs and their parents' wishes. This way, all children can enjoy their meal worry-free and start the afternoon feeling strengthened.

  7. 11.45 am

    Nap or rest time

Together we accompany the children who still need it into our spacious sleeping room for their midday nap.

The older children split up into different rooms and spend the rest time reading independently, being read to, or listening to an audiobook.

  8. 2.00 pm

    Afternoon snack

The afternoon snack is the perfect close to an active day. In the afternoon we offer children a light, balanced meal that gives them fresh energy for the last shared hours. Fresh fruit, crunchy vegetables, healthy bread variations and small snacks are lovingly prepared and served. Here too, we make sure individual dietary needs are respected, so every child feels comfortable and well cared for.

  9. 3.00 pm

Pick-up time, free play, special activities

Pick-up time is flexible, to suit parents' needs. While some children are already collected, others use the time for one last round of free play. In this phase they can play according to their own interests, be creative or simply relax. Free play fosters independence, social skills, and stimulates the imagination.

We also offer special activities during this time, such as small craft projects, music or movement activities. These optional activities give children the chance to let the day wind down in a varied and relaxed way before heading home.

  10. 4.30 pm

Closing time (4 pm on Fridays)

Together with the last children, we turn off the lights at 4.30 pm, close the door of Kinderwelt behind us, and look forward to a new day full of exciting experiences.

More than just a schedule

Woven into our daily routine are activities such as music, sport and our toy day. Together we celebrate birthdays, mark the changing seasons and celebrate festivals such as Carnival, Easter, our summer festival, Christmas and more.
