Our settling-in process

We meet children and parents exactly where they are.

Our settling-in concept reflects the way our kita works: meeting children and parents exactly where they are. We respond to each family individually and want to accompany them through the transition from "just family" to "family with kindergarten".

The Kinderwelt settling-in concept is based on the Berlin settling-in model. There is a general process for settling in, which is nonetheless adapted specifically for every child and family. This means the number of days or the length of attendance can also be shortened or extended.

Plan for around 4 weeks

Once you've decided on Kinderwelt, you should plan for around four weeks to settle your child in at the start. This period should definitely fall before you return to work. A settling-in period of 4–6 weeks is only a guide, and can vary from family to family.

How it works

  1. Getting to know each other

During this time, your family and the educators slowly get to know one another. On the first days, your child comes for only around one to two hours, accompanied by a parent.

  2. Step by step

The length of stay is slowly increased, while the parent's presence is gradually reduced.

  3. Settled in

Until your child stays at the kita entirely on their own. The length of the settling-in period depends entirely on your individual child.

Even before the start

Even before settling in begins, towards the end of a kita year, we always invite the "new" children to playful afternoon get-togethers. This way, children and families can get to know each other in a relaxed way, without any pressure.

Parents also receive a welcome letter and a questionnaire to fill in. This covers questions about eating habits, sleep routines, soothing methods, and any special wishes parents may have for us. This allows us to respond individually to your child and their stage of development. Any worries or concerns are taken seriously.
